When Jesus was in this world, He encouraged the people and His disciples saying in John 14:1, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me."

And in Matthew 6:25, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?"

But how can a person be worry free or not having a troubled heart? When problems arise, when sickness come or when things go wrong surely we get worried and our hearts fill with worry and trouble. Surely we feel so hopeless and helpless that we lose our hearts. Once I read about a lady who was neither sick nor had any medical problems to worry about. One day she received a postcard in her mail. That simple postcard was an advertisement about thinking about the future and how to save money for the funeral. When she read that postcard she started thinking that she had never paid any attention on this topic and so started thinking more and more. And it happened that the more she thought on this topic her anxiety grew. Within a few weeks she fell very sick. Why it happened? Because she allowed those worries and anxiety to stay with her instead of given those worries and anxieties to Jesus who would have cared about it.

If God had said something, He really meant it. If He said, "don't worry", it means that we should not worry for anything. If He said, "Let not your heart be troubled", it means that we should never have a troubled heart. As a human being we often forget those words of the creator. But Jesus through His ultimate sacrifice on the cruel cross had made provision for us of a peaceful and worry free life. He died for our peace; He shed His precious blood so that we could have forgiveness of our sins.

Once when Jesus was traveling with His disciples as He was exhausted He fell asleep. But it happened that a big storm arose and waves started to beat into the boat and water started to fill in the boat. The disciples were frightened and they awoke Jesus. When Jesus woke up, He did one thing, He simply rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Then He said to the disciples, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him! (Mark 4:37-41)"

The most amazing thing is that Jesus said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" Faith is the key here. If we trust in Jesus fully, we can be fearless. Just as a small child fully trusts in his parents and sleeps without any worry or fear. We can also have our full trust on our heavenly father who is always there to help us.

Have you become His Child? If not, this is the day when you can give your life to Jesus and become God's child as written in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

If we can trust our earthly parents who have only limited power then why should we not trust in our heavenly Father who is the all powerful creator Himself?

Bible tells us that dreams and visions guide us and inform us what to do, where to go and what not to do, where not to go. We read that in the journeys of Apostle Paul at times God had forbidden him from going to certain places and had even shown visions to indicate that he was to go to Macedonia. We read in Acts 16:6-12, "Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days."

Then Apostle Paul went to Macedonia and had a very wonderful and fruitful ministry there. If we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and if we are filled with Holy Spirit, God would guide us also in a wonderful way.

I remember when we were in India that my dad got early retirement from his job. So to have financial option open, it was necessary to either find a new job or start a business. My dad sold a portion of our property and brought money. He was thinking to start a business. So my dad looked for some properties and finally he chose to go and look for one property.

It was the time when we had just received the filling of the Holy Spirit and yet we knew that God can guide us. The day before he was about to go and see the property my sister saw a dream. She saw a lion raising its paw and also that someone was chasing my dad in order to hurt him. She woke up sweating but at that moment she knew that the dream clearly showed the will of God. Anyway, my dad and my brother went to see the property which was at the outskirts of the city. The property was like a farmhouse, not many people living in that area and was at the end of a dusty road. After they came back we prayed more to know the will of God and it was confirmed through various prophecies that the purchasing of that property was not in the will of God.

When I think about it, I still feel very happy that my dad did not purchase that property. Had he purchased that property, we would have been in great trouble. Not only that but his life would have been in complete danger as in the next few weeks and months we read many reports in newspaper that many who purchased such properties and started living there were killed by armed robbers. It was a sad chapter for those who inhabited in that faraway place away from the city and from people. But God in His great mercy saved our lives because we sought His guidance.

Even today, God is ready to guide you and show you which way you need to go. He is ready to direct you, if you just give your life to Him and ask for His guidance. A life given in the hands of Jesus is eternally safe. Would you like this safety for your life? If you say yes, come to Jesus and give your life to Him.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
