EDITORIAL
Years ago I read a true story. One famous dentist was in India, one day he noticed a boil in his mouth. After a month it was still there and he saw it wasn't vanishing. He was afraid that it may be cancer, so, he went to a Doctor and after checking him out, the Doctor said "yes, you have mouth cancer. You are not going to live more than 6 months." He came home and told to his wife. She told him that this could spread to her and her children. "I don't want to live with you," she said. He pleaded much but his wife didn't head his words. She took her two children and went away from him. He was alone, broken and rejected, didn't know what to do. Days passed by finally he could understand that he wasn't going to live more than 2-3 days, so he called his wife. He said, "I want to see my children for the last time and I want to spend some time with them." She said, "you can't see them." Finally he called a advocate and they gave a court notice to his wife and children that they should come to his place for 1/2 an hour. She came and stood on the door. She said, "look at your children from a distance, don't touch them, don't kiss them." How his heart might have broken, you can imagine that... Yes, my friend, this is the love of human and it may soon fade away. Today's best friend may become tomorrow's worst enemy. Just think about the love of Christ. The Bible says in Jer. 31:3, "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love." His love will never end no matter whatever your situation may be. He loved us with an everlasting love. Maybe you are in depth of sin, may be you are broken hearted, may be you are going through problems but my dear friend, Jesus loves you and wants to deliver you from all your bondage's, from all your sins, from all your problems, from all your darkness. The love which Jesus showed on the cross for us to save us from our sins. The Bible says," All have sinned and come short of His glory." (Rom 3:23) Jesus died on the cruel cross and took all our sins on the cross. When we come to Him and ask for forgiveness, he washes us from all our sins and gives us a new life as the Bible says in 2Cor. 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new." Pandita Ramabai
Ramabai was born in a very orthodox Brahmin family in Maglore, south India. She was youngest in her home. When she was 6 years old from that time onwards her parents' did leave their house and started to go pilgrim. They go to one shrine and stay for some months then they move to another shrine. They use to take a bath in holy rivers and visit to the local temples. In meeting places, his father use to read the scripts in Sanskrit language from Puranas, a collection of sacred Hindu poetry. The devote who use to come to hear him, they give the enough money and cloths for his family. Mother of Ramabai also use to read the scripts from Puran as his husband taught her the Sanskrit language. And from her mother, Ramabai also learned to read Sanskrit. Her father became very weak and whatever money they had it was finished. Because of the religious bondage's they can't do any other work. Later, when she was a teenager, devastating famines plagued the area. Everywhere people started dying and they also didn't have food but they can't beg because of there prestige. Finally, the day came when they didn't have a single grain of rice. They went to a village temple but the priest of that temple refused to take them in. So, they went to a old temple and started living there. After some time his father died in this place and her mother and sister too died because of lack of food. And because of this pain she could understood others pain. Ramabai found herself and her brother the only surviving members of her family. Ramabai and her brother were alone to face the worlds problems. One very cold night when they didn't have enough resources to protect themselves, they went to the Bay of River to hide themselves in sand. Many times they had to be hungry. In this manner they went to the corners of India and temples of India. They had gone 4000 miles by foot and finally they reached to Calcutta and they came to the contact of well educated Brahmins. Ramabai showed an amazing gift for reciting literally hundreds of these poems from memory before audiences all over India. She became well known as a lecturer on social questions, becoming the first woman to be awarded the title 'Pandita'. She read many religious books but she could not find the joy and satisfaction in her life. She also could not find any hope for a woman. Women were very downtrodden in society. Her thirst for God was increased and she started losing her faith in her own religion. When she was 22 years old she married to a (shoodra) non-Brahmin man. Find out what happened after this in next issue......
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th May. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th May. 2008
