John 16:23-24, "…. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”When Jesus was about to leave this world He spoke to His disciples and told them many things. One of the things was that if they ask anything to father in Jesus’ name they will receive so that their joy may be full. God wants to give us our heart’s desire. He cares for His children. Once an official went to a foreign country. While he was leaving he asked his daughter, “what do you want from that country?” The daughter said, “I want nice bangles.” The officer went to the foreign country, did his work and the day came when he had to return home. He went to the airport to board a plane. While waiting in the airport, he suddenly remembered his promise of bangles for her daughter. He was so busy with his work that he completely forgot to purchase the bangles. He said in his heart, “Oh, if I could not give her the bangles, how my daughter’s heart would break… and how she would be greatly disappointed…” But there was no time to return to the city and purchase bangles. So the officer went around in the airport looking for bangles knowing in his heart that the cost would be manifolds higher with in the airport. Anyhow he purchased the bangles giving high cost to see that his daughter is happy.God also wants to see His children happy. He did everything for us so that we could have a blessed and happy life. This lent season reminds us of the great love of God towards mankind that He gave His only son to die for us. He came in this world leaving all His majesty, excellency and glory. On the cruel cross He shed His precious blood so that our sins could be forgiven and so that we could have fellowship with God as Adam had in the beginning. So that we could have access to all the blessings as Adam had before the fall of mankind. Jesus said in John 10:10-11, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”Jesus came in this world to give abundant life – A life full of blessings, joy and happiness not only in this world but also for eternity. Do you say that there is no joy or peace in your life? Do you say that you feel empty and living a meaningless life? Come to Jesus, give your life to Jesus. He will fill you with His blessings and will make you happy.
Call Upon Me and I will Answer you!
Psa 50:15, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."Psa 91:15, “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”This is the promise of God for those who believe in His name. You are not alone in this world but there is a God who loves you and who cares for you. I was reading the book called, Fresh Wind Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala It is an amazing book that tells the story of mighty power working in the lives of ordinary persons who trusted in the mighty God. Jim writes how he started his ministry with great struggle but when he called upon the name of the Lord, he saw breakthrough and miracles in his little church. His ministry started growing and God started performing mighty miracles and delivering drug addicts, prostitutes and others who had no hope in their lives. In the midst of his successful ministry he realized that his eldest daughter Chrissy drifted away from the Lord and became very rebellious. For many days she would not return home. She had company with bad people who were drug addicts, who did all kinds of immoral things. Jim Cymbala and his wife Carol’s hearts were broken completely. He writes that he tried everything, argued with her, scolded her, spoke from the Bible, tried to control her but nothing worked. Jim would go to church half an hour early in the morning before church service and would cry out to the Lord saying, “O, Lord how I am going to preach in three services when I am myself in deep trouble.” But every time God helped him to conduct those services. Once Carol said, “let us pack up and leave New York that had already swallowed our daughter and I don’t want the other two children also to follow her footsteps. Once a pastor telephoned him and said, “look your daughter has reached to the point where there is no return. Just accept what she is and move on.” But Jim said in his heart, No never, I will never give up on my daughter. Because he knew that she was on the way to complete destruction. Almost for two and a half years Jim and his wife both cried out to the Lord for their daughter. There was nothing but hopelessness and despair.One day when he was conducting the service, a lady sent a piece of paper. He read that paper in which she wrote, “Pastor today let the whole church pray for your daughter.” Jim was hesitant to take this step and yet he announced for prayer for his daughter. He also gave a small description about his daughter in what condition she was. The whole church groaned and with great burden people started calling upon the Lord for a great deliverance for Chrissy. Two days later their daughter returned home. She was away from home for many days. She was crying and sobbing uncontrollably. She said, Daddy, “I have sinned against myself, against God, against you and mommy, please forgive me.” Then she said, “who was praying for me on Tuesday night… who was praying for me? In the midnight God woke me and showed me that I was heading toward this Abyss. There was no bottom to it – it scared me to death. I was so frightened. I realized how hard I have been, how wrong, how rebellious.”“But at the same time, it was like God wrapped His arms around me and held me tight. He kept me from sliding any further as he said, “I still love you.” Soon after that she joined a Bible collage. God blessed her and she got married with a godly man and has three lovely kids. This is the power of calling upon the almighty God. He is ready to deliver us when we call upon Him. You may be in the same situation today; call upon the name above all names i.e. Jesus. He will deliver you and bless you.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 12th Aug. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 12th Aug. 2008
Printed Version of the Magazine
