Bible tells us about a God who is mighty, awesome and miracle worker. Job says in Job 5:9, "Who does great things, and unsearchable, Marvelous things without number." And also in Job 9:10, "He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number."

Moses knew this awesome and mighty God and he says in Deu 10:17-18, "For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing."

In the early 80's my dad was very sick with rheumatoid arthritis. He was the only bread winner in our home. My mom was just a house wife and we were studying at that time. His sickness became worst and worst. It really made us worried. We desperately needed a miracle. But we never knew the mighty power of the almighty God found in the Bible. We thought it happened in the past and in the Bible times but those miracles are no longer in existence. That time I used to listen to a radio program called "Masihi Vandana" every morning before my studies. One day there was so much disturbance as signal was poor and I could not listen properly so I was trying to adjust it moving the knob of radio. In that process it was switched to another station. Bro. D. G. S. Dhinakaran of was sharing his testimony in that program that how he was completely dejected with his life and wanted to kill himself. When he heeded toward railway track to throw himself in front of on coming train, one of his uncle met him and told him about the love of Jesus. Bro. D.G.S. Dhinakaran thought to go back and give Jesus a try. He went back and cried out to Jesus. He said, if you help me to come out of my misery, pain and failure I will serve you. Then he saw all his sins in front of his eyes and repented for four hours. A great peace came into his heart and his life transformed completely. God not only gave him salvation but also exalted him, restored him and blessed him.

At the end of that program he said, Jesus is the same yesterday. today and forever. And He can do the same miracles that He did in the past. Well, all the time I was thinking, "It can't be true.., it never happens anymore" But my mom who was also listening the program decided to write a letter asking his prayers for my dad. She immediately wrote a letter to him. Before any reply could come from him, my dad started showing signs of improvement. A few days later reply came from him that, "the sickness is not for death but for the glory of God." Exactly my dad got complete healing and till this time that sickness did not come back.

When it happened, it really made me very curious to know more about the awesome God and His mighty power who healed my dad. Though I grew up in a Christian home, though I have attended Sunday School and Church every Sunday, though I read my Bible everyday, prayed everyday yet never heard this type of thing in my whole life. Though I claimed that my God is living God yet I never thought He could really perform miracles. I started searching the Bible and to my surprise I found almost every page of Bible describes the awesome power of God and His mighty deeds. Jesus Himself said in Mark 16:17-18, "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

I woke up as of my sleep. I realized that Bible was not a mere paperwork but it is real and the God of Bible is real. What He has spoken in the Bible, He does it and still able to do it.

Yes, He is awesome and mighty God. There is no one like Him. Are you in need today? Are you in sick bed today? Jesus can help! He can meet your needs, He can heal your sickness, He can wipe away your tears and He can do mighty miracle for you.

Ministry is not a bed of Roses - Part 2

By Sheela Isaac

In previous issue http://insearchofpeace.com/9v30issue.htm as I have mentioned about the horrifying experience, which took place in our ministry and life, as we tried to arrange a big convention. The convention was conducted by other group of pastors and we thought that when convention would be over everything is going to get normal but it was not so. The man who was in our team got pretty furious with us without any cause, he was not alone the victim but we were too. They threw us all out of the game just because of seeing big benefits with lots of Pastors and several churches involvement. Little did we know that this man is going to harm us in any way although he had no reason to. Well Jesus whom we serve knows all desires of hearts and thoughts and nothing is hidden from Him. He warned us through a dream that what was coming next. "It was Saturday night and my mom saw a dream. In her dream she was screaming and saying to all of us to hide under the couch. She said, "A man who killed few people are coming." And we were frantically running to save our lives." Acts 2:17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams." Bible says God speaks through visions and dreams and those are filled with Holy Spirit can have such experiences. The Sunday was the last day for the convention so we decided to attend our church service, but the Lord told to my brother not to go to church that Sunday. So the Sunday was turned as a holiday for us to relax and enjoy at home.

On Sunday we woke up late and sitting in our front room and enjoying our morning tea and chatting. Little did we know that the death was getting nearer than the very breath we were breathing. Though the Lord showed it through the dream that it was coming but we were not prepared for it in anyway. Meanwhile as we were still sipping our tea my mom got pretty angry and said, "Your chat is not yet over, is it not the time for our family prayer? Are you coming or not anyhow I am still going to go and sit in prayer room." As soon as she left the room and climbed up the stairs, from half way she returned back screaming again "don't open the door a man is standing outside and looks pretty suspicious." So we all climbed up the stairs to see who he was. There was a man with his bicycle parked in front of our gate. He was walking to and fro kind of little restless on the road and was looking at the windows and doors of our house and neighbor's house. He took at least 3-4 rounds to make sure nobody is watching him. Then he turned back and hurried towards our gate and opened it and got inside. As soon as he got inside I asked him, "who are you, whom you are looking for?" When he heard it he was startled and looked pretty shocked and mumbled something and ran outside and got away with his bicycle. We stood there pondering over the situation and still shivering that how God intervened in time and saved us from the coming disaster. If my mom had missed him from seeing, he would have knocked the door and my brother who sat near by the door would have jumped up and opened the door and the unthinkable would have taken place. Was it a coincidence? No definitely not but it was God's mighty hand which protected us.

That was the first time we came to the realization that our lives were in danger. Well we thought it might be over after one or two attempts but it wasn't. It continued for more than two full years. When the same thing repeated over and over again we got pretty tired. Every time when somebody knocked our door my mom and I were the people who were dealing with the situation. That was the time we really wanted to run away from that place. We prayed, "God shall we go to south India where our relatives are and stay for sometime till everything gets calm down?" Lord said, "NO". The second option was to report to police station that our lives were in danger and we need police protection. Prayed over it and again the Lord said, "NO", the Lord said, "vengeance belongs to me and I will take vengeance, you need not to worry about anything." Heb 10:30, Rom 12:19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord". Oh the second option was also died down and we were left with no other options left, but to face whatever comes on our way. Many times it looks pretty hard to hear God and obey but it was the best decision we ever took. We left everything in the hands of God and trusted that God can protect us from everything. Two years had passed and one day during our family prayer Lord spoke to us saying, "Your problems are over and you are coming out of your troubles". Then He further said, "My time has come for to take vengeance and I would repay for what they have done and the humiliation you faced." God hadn't forgotten His words which He spoke two years back. He did took vengeance and the people who were involved in it were gone through horrible mess and it was a pretty painful and sad story.

Had we ran away that day to safer place nobody would have ever seen us in ministry. Had we ran and hidden ourselves in safe place that day, we would never had the courage to face challenges thereafter which came in our ministry. Why hardship comes in ministry? Why go through sufferings? It comes to make you rigid like iron so that you can withstand in every situations and not to run away leaving ministry in half way. Look at the life of Moses once he ran away from Egypt to save his life. He left Egypt and dwelt in the land of Median. Exo 2:15 "When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well." God made him to walk in wilderness for forty years and trained him how to face hardship and still stay faithful to God. Moses who lived in Palace enjoyed the luxury of life was now suffering in wilderness and tending sheep. When God tested him and when he was approved as a right vessel for the calling and the ministry, Lord God appeared to him in a burning bush and told him about the mission. Exo 3:2, "And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed". Now Moses was going back to the same land where his life was in danger. Now he is standing before the king of the same land where he was about to die. Look at the difference between the old Moses and this one. He is not running away as he did early. He is not afraid to face king because God has brought him through much testing and hardship.

Look at the life of Peter once he denied Jesus in front of a servant woman. Mark 14:67, 'And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Nazareth."' Mark 14:68, "But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." He plainly denied saying, "he does not know who Jesus is though he was a disciple of Jesus for more than three years". First he denied Jesus but when he walked though hardship he became somebody whom God can trust and put him in the ministry. The Bible says his ministry wasn't a bed of roses but he was suffered for the Gospel and was thrown into prison many times. Thus through hardship and pain he learned how to win his battles. Now he was not afraid of prison nor death. The history says, "he became martyr for the Gospel. At first he denied Christ but now he was willing even to die rather than denying Him. The hardship and suffering made him that strong.

Are you going though hardships? Are you going through persecution? Be of good cheer it is not happening without the knowledge of Jesus. He hasn't left you but He is always watching you and He is always there for your rescue. If the Lord has called you for the ministry you must know that it is not a bed of roses. Rev. Jerry Bernard said, "the day you get saved the same day God does not put you in show-room as a shiny beautiful trophy. No but He'll test you to see if you are faithful and trustworthy to Him". The day you get saved the very same day He does not place you in TV or Radio ministry nor before a crowd of thousands. But he will test you in every level. When you pass one test He will put you in the next level and when you pass the another test he will allow you to go to another level. As you hear from God and follow His commands He will lead you in ministry and would show you what to do and what not to do. Hearing from God and obedience makes all the difference.
May God bless you and use you.

How we Survived!

By Sherly Isaac

You might have read my sister's article "Ministry is not a bed of Roses". When all these problems took place, at that time we were fairly new in our Christian faith. This incident shocked us badly. Our faith in Jesus Christ, our ministry and even our lives were in danger. But by the grace of God we survived without crashing on the ground. How we survived:

1. Obeying God: Isaac was living in a place called Gerar. When famine came in that land, he tried to go to Egypt but God forbid him, as we read in Gen 26:2-6, 'Then the LORD appeared to him and said: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws." So Isaac dwelt in Gerar."'

Here we see that though Isaac had hard time living in Gerar because of famine yet God promised him blessings in the same place where he was staying.

When people tried to kill us, when we were in trouble, we asked God whether we could leave that place and go to our native place in South India? But God told us that, "we must stay where we are and He will protect us and bless us." So we stayed there not knowing whether any of us would be killed or injured. God also told us to pray and know whether we have to go out or not and if yes, where to go and where not to.

We did what God told us. Every time before stepping out we prayed and found out whether we should go out or not. Once it was my exam and my brother came with me to drop me in my college. I and my brother where going in our two wheeler. Two men came from opposite side in a motorbike. Looking toward us they spoke something and in hurry the driver turned his motorbike and came in the same road from where we were traveling. As he approached toward us, he felt somewhat restless. The more he came nearer, his face turned from pale to ashen. Then he just went past us without doing any harm to us. We do not know what happened to him but of course God protected us that day.

Once my brother was going out of town. Prior to his departure we went for shopping. There were times when we could not come out of our home for many days. A man had a peculiar colored scooter. After shopping when we were returning, we saw that man with his scooter at nearby patrol(gas) station were he was caught up in the middle of big queue. Oh, what a relief it was to see him stuck in the gas station. We praised God for once again protecting us.

2. Studied the Bible together: As a family we started studying the Bible and it gave us tremendous boost in our faith. We started from Genesis. We studied about Abraham that how he survived in all odds in a strange land. God protected him, provided him and made him great just like He promised him. We read about the most touching story of Joseph and his survival in a land where he was sold as a slave. Not only God pulled him out of the prison but exalted him as second highest position after Pharaoh in Egypt. We read about Moses who survived among all the odds. How God protected him miraculously even when Pharaoh ordered to kill all Hebrew male child. Not only he survived but also brought up by same Pharaoh's daughter who wanted to destroy his life. God took him and made him a prophet and leader to Israel who delivered Israel from their bondage.

All these stories of the Bible were great help for building great faith in our lives. We realized that all the Bible characters went through similar situation of ours yet God helped them to survive. Great faith came in our hearts that the same God will help us to come out of our troubles victoriously.

3. Prayer of determination: Though it was difficult yet we prayed that, "we have put our steps further and no matter what comes our way, we are not going to turn our backs. Whether we get anything in our lives or not, whether we live or die, we will follow Christ." We also prayed fervently that God may help us to be firm in Him and we may never go back.

And God was faithful all these years. He not only delivered us but also kept us alive. The same God who promised in Psa 121:5, "The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand." is able to keep you and will be your help.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
