1 Pet 4:1-3, "Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles; when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries."Peter was speaking to them those who gave their lives to Christ. He told them to get out of the worldly things like drunkenness, lewdness, lusts, revelries, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. I always thought that drinking parties are modern day symbol of high society. But little did I know that, this type of things were common in the time of Bible itself. Peter says, we were living this type of filthy lifestyle but now we must get rid of all these things from our lives and stop sinning.Once I attended a wedding. One another family was sharing our table. When the alcohol was served grandmother of that family put the two years old granddaughter on her lap and started spoon feeding alcohol to her. I was startled and at first I thought that, "the grandparents have just came from India so they might not aware of what they are doing." But to my surprise a few moments later little girl's parents came in and they also started feeding her alcohol. Neither that time nor to this date I could understand their bizarre behavior. But this is were our society stands today. Once Jesus came to Samaria and as He was sitting at Jacob's well, a woman came to draw water. Jesus started talking to her. In that conversation Jesus said to her in John 4:16-18, "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband, for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly." I have heard messages on these verses that Samaritan woman was a prostitute. But the Bible very clearly says that, "she had five husbands". We do not know whether she divorced them or they left her but we know that, when Jesus spoke to her she had no husband. She was dating and living with her sixth boyfriend... Isn't it happening in our modern world today, which we call "broad-mindedness"? This is where our society stands today. And it breaks my heart that most of our Churches have adopted or tolerated this type of filthy lifestyle. Bible also tells us that God punished these types of people but delivered Lot who lived a righteous life. We read in 2 Pet 2:7-10, "and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds); then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority."God wants to deliver us from our sinful nature. That's why Jesus came in this world and gave His life for us. If we confess our sins and turn to Him, He is ready to forgive and to forget our sins. But if not, there is a day appointed for judgment and punishment. Where will you find yourself in that day?
My sister and I were studying in a Catholic Convent school. I was in 1st or 2nd grade. There were rumors spreading from many days that Govt. wants every kid from every school to be vaccinated. And Medical team would come and vaccinate kids forcefully. We also heard that some of the kids died while they were vaccinated. I don't know whether the news was correct or not but there was a great fear in our little hearts. My dad was an engineer and he was always very busy with his work. Most of the time he would be out of the town. When he was back home, no matter whether he would be taking his breakfast or lunch and if he received a phone call or a message from higher officer, he would just leave the food on the table and go to fulfill his duty. That day also when I and my sister left for school, my mom assured us that we need not to fear for anything because she will send a servant to pick us up and we will be safe. When the last bell rang and we knew that we had to go out. With great fear we stepped out of the school building and when we reached to the main entrance, I saw dad sitting in the jeep. I was overjoyed and all fear left me seeing dad himself came to pick us. He took time from his busy schedule just for me and for my sister so that we could be safe.In the same way if God is our Father, He watches over us. He promised, "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.(John 14:18)" For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. (Psa 27:5)" Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. (Psa 50:15)"Are your hearts full of fear because of various problems you are going through? Are you afraid seeing uncertainty in your future, war or terrorism around you? Trust in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He will not let you down. He will come for your rescue. If you have not known Him as your father, please pray this prayer with me:Dear God, I believe that You sent your only Son, Jesus Christ to die for me so that my sins be forgiven. Today, I invite you to become my Lord and Savior. Please forgive and forget all my sins and come into my heart. Have mercy upon me and pull me out of my troubles. Make a way for me so that I could come out of all my troubles. Thank you Lord for listening me. I give you all the glory. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
