EDITORIAL

Once I read the statment of a newly wedded couple. They said, "Our marriage is not going to break but is going to last forever." When I read this I started thinking how broken our society is today. Broken relationships, broken marriages, broken homes, and broken hearts. Our future is not secure. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. But the Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7 "...casting all your care upon Him (Jesus), for He cares for you." When we love Christ, He cares for us; and our future is secure in His hand, as the Psalmist says in Psa. 31:15, "My times are in Your hand." This time I am publishing a brother's study on Vedas (The primary scriptures of Hinduism) sent by Bro. Parveen Singh. I am really thankful to Sis. Sharon who did the proof- reading of this issue and will do it in future issues also. May God richly bless her for the sacrificial help. If you have any prayer requests please feel free to send them to us. We will pray for you.

Vedas Says about the coming of the Messiah

By Parveen singh

I was born in India and raised as a Hindu. Even though I was raised in India, I am still open to learning about outside cultures. I studied world religions for my undergraduate studies. Recently, I have learned about some things from the Vedas that are worth mentioning. During this Christmas season, the birth of Christ is the central theme (besides the commercials).

It seems that the Vedas themselves attest to the coming of the Messiah. If you know Sanskrit then you can translate it yourself, otherwise for the rest of the readers it is translated into English. In Samaveda it is written:

"Lihvya goptharam maha kyou dadhina kuryantai. Havy a yaana parya thaseen."

Meaning: "The Incarnate will be born to a virgin in a cattle shed." According to the second part of Samveda, from the book "Thandiyamaha-Brahmanam"

there is some prophecy regarding the sacrifice.

"Praja Pathirthe vebhyam athmanam yagnam kruthya prayaschith" meaning :- "the one who rules the world in order to atone for the sins of many allowed His body to be crushed and offered as a sacrifice (yagna)." "Prajapathi" means "God the Creator." When the Aryans said "Aham yagnosmi", "Aham" means "The God who is the creator of the universe and the Holy of Holies." "Yagnosmi" (a derivative of yagna) speaks of His sacrifice. The

Thadiya Maha Brah Manam says "Sarva papa parthro raktha prokshana mavashykam thath raktham paramathmeno punydana bpliyagam"

meaning :"If one has to be delivered from all kinds of sins, such as sins committed through hearing, seeing, sinful thoughts, sinful deeds, sinful ideas, and sinful conduct, shedding of blood is necessary."

Rgveda 10:90: 1-15 mentions that after the death of the sacrifice, the sacrifice should return to life. The above two passages seem to be fulfilled by Christ, who: "...died for our sins according to the scriptures; and He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:3-8 ) It is interesting to note, that amongst all world religions, this concept of Christ's sacrifice stands out. Christianity is the only one in which the deity Himself is willing to give up His heavenly dominion and glory to save the souls of men. Yes, Man was so much fallen in sin that the remission was not possible with unholy blood or the blood of animals. But Jesus came to rescue us from this situation. He died on the cruel cross of calvary and shed His most precious & blameless blood to save the whole of mankind. He gave the supreme sacrifice to save all mankind, and because of His death we have a way out - He took all the penalty in behalf of us and He paid the price on the cross. If we go to the cross and ask the forgiveness of sin, He is ready to cleanse us from our sins no matter how big or small they are. The Bible says in Isa. 1:18 ' "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." ' May God bless you!

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
