Psalms 91:16, "With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."

Bible tells about many blessings for those who walk in the ways of God. This is one of the blessings which God wants to give us in our lives - long life. God promised long life for those who love Him, who know His name and who call upon Him. We read in Psalms 91:14-15, "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him."

On the other side there is curse which is the opposite of blessing. Bible talks about a priest named Eli who received the curse of God. 1 Sam 2:12 says, "sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD." God sent prophets to warn Eli about his son's behavior but Eli did not do anything about it. Finally God's word came to Samuel who was just a boy who was not even a priest and who was not even from the lineage of the Levites but an Ephraimite. God told through Samuel that He will destroy the whole family of Eli because he honored his sons more than God. And a prophet came to him and said in 1 Sam 2:31-33, "Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age."

What a tragic situation for Eli's family when God said, "no one from his family will reach to the old age." And further readings of Bible tells us that it happened exactly. On the one side there is blessing for those who walk in the ways of God but on the other side there is curse. If you are living in sin, you cannot escape from the wrath of God unless you turn to God and repent from your sins.

And the other curse which is more tragic has been mentioned in 1 Sam 2:33, "But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart." This is more tragic to see a family member suffering and you are looking at him/her helplessly.

But if we walk in the ways of God, blessings awaits for us. Abraham walked in the ways of God. He obeyed God and the result was that God promised blessings to him. Bible says in Gen 22:17-18, "blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."
Because of one man who obeyed God, he and his descendants received all the blessings of God, but another man who disobeyed God lost not only his blessings but his generation suffered because of him. What is your position today? You may be suffering or seeing no blessings in your life. Bring your curses, pain, sorrow, sufferings and tears under the blood of Jesus Christ. He took all our curses, pain, sorrow, tears and sufferings on the cruel cross so that we could have a blessed life. By His precious blood you can break all curses from your life and get His blessings.

Blessing and Cursing

Before Moses died he set before the Israelites Blessings and Curses which can come upon them. He wrote blessings for those who will be obedient and curses for those who will be disobedient which is mentioned in the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy. And finally he says in Deuteronomy 30th chapter 19th verse, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live."

Yes, there is a way of life and a way of death, there is a way of blessing and there is a way of cursing. Moses set both the ways before the people and said, "choose life that both you and your descendants may live." Why Moses said like that? Because death is not a blessing. There was no death before Adam sinned. His life was cut short because of his sin. Death came in this world because of his sin and God's curse came upon him. Death is not a pleasant thing, it is painful and it is horrible.

When Jesus saw us suffering because of death and curse, He could not see anymore. He came down to give us life and blessings. Jesus said in John 6:33, "For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." And also in John 6:35, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."

Jesus also said in John 3:15, "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." This eternal life is available for us today. This wonderful life and wonderful blessings are available for us today. If you want to see life and blessings of God in your life, you must turn to God. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and get new life from Him.

In John 4th chapter Bible says about the Samaritan woman who came to draw water from the well where Jesus was sitting. Jesus spoke about the living water to her that "whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life, ( John 4:14)." When she had finished talking with Jesus, she was so excited that she left her pitcher and went to the city and said, "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ? (John 4:29)"

Today Jesus wants to give you bread of life and living water so that you may never hunger nor thirst but have eternal life. Moses urged people to choose life so that they and their descendents could live. I also invite you today to choose life and blessings so that you and your descendents may have blessings and life.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th May. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th May. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine

We are excited to announce that we are starting printed edition of the magazine that will be monthly. And will contain all the four or five issues of a month. Our online magazine will still be free and can be read via email or on our website
