Dan 1:8-9, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.”Bible talks about Daniel that he was in a very odd situation, he was in captivity. He had no other options except to obey his captors and do, as they wanted him to do. But Daniel took a stand for God and he was determined in his heart that he would not defile himself. So he set aside wine and other delicacies of king that could have defiled him. When Daniel told his heart’s desire, the chief of the eunuchs said to him in Dan 1:10, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king.” Daniel could have put him in danger but when he took a firm stand for God, God protected him and gave favor in the eyes of king and others. Many think that when you are in high position, you cannot live in holiness, but you will be forced to live according to this world. But we can find many in the Bible who did not care about the world or worldly authorities even though their lives were in danger. Further we read about Daniel and his friends that though they were in high position they did not bow down before those worldly authorities who wanted them to commit sin. Nebuchadnezzar set up his gold image and told every person to bow down before it and worship the gold image as we read in Dan 3:5 "that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.” But Dan 3:12 says that their refusal to worship the golden image was reported to the king, "There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up."And the punishment was that they were thrown into the fiery furnace but God miraculously delivered them and fire could not harm them at all. Bible also tells us about Daniel that when he was holding the highest position next to the king that he was thrown into the den of lions, because he worshipped the only true God and did not obey the king’s desire. We read in Dan 6:12-13, “And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: "Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" The king answered and said, "The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter. So they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."Though he was thrown into den of lions still God protected him and brought him out of it, because he trusted on God and prayed to God despite of the order of king. Yes, my friends may be you are in high position or doing administrative work, still you can live a holy life and still you can take a stand for Christ. Today, many have bowed down and kissed the feet of devil and that’s why we see so much wrong teachings in our Churches. But if you trust and obey God at every step, He will protect you and exalt you before others. No job is too small or too big; that you cannot obey God in the very place where God has placed you.I do remember how difficult this year was, but we could experience God’ blessings because we trusted on Him and obeyed in every single step. Many adverse things happened in this year but we are thankful to God for His mercy and grace that He sustained us. Last year my dad had a stroke but we are thankful to God that He did not take my dad home. We are so thankful to God that He healed him and he could regain strength in his body. Not only that, we went through terrible financial crisis in this year but God miraculously sustained us. In times of trouble and in times of tears He was with us. He never left us nor forsook us. On the one side mighty things happened in the lives of people and God used us mightily, but on the other side we went through tears and pain. But when I look back and think, I can say as Job said, “For I know that my Redeemer lives….”(Job 19:25)We thank all of you who sent best wishes and Christmas and New Year E-cards. It is not possible for us to thank each of you personally. Our prayers and best wishes are with you and your family. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy and blessed new year 2003! 1. Economical growth:Today economy is in bad shape, but in this New Year, God will bless this nation and this nation will prosper economically. Businesses will flourish and people will have plenty, even to give it to other nations. Just as at the time of Joseph when the other countries had no food or grain and as famine was very severe while in Egypt there were was plenty of food and all those of other countries had to come down to Egypt to purchase grain from Joseph, the same blessing will come in this land.2. Health and healing:This land will experience health and healing from various sicknesses. God’s healing power will move mightily and will bless His people.3. Will turn from their sins:Many will turn from their wicked ways and know the living God personally. They will come out of their sins and will live a holy life. God will send His Holy Spirit and convict people so that they will repent from their sins and turn to the living God. They will worship God in sprit and in truth.4. Righteousness:Though many parts of the world is experienced severe persecution against Christians, yet God is going to raise a great army of righteous people who will obey God in everything and who will not be afraid to tell the truth. They will speak with authority and in the power of the Holy Spirit. The days are coming when they will replace surface Christians or nominal Christians and change worldly things with the righteousness of God.5. God will separate true worshippers from others who are not:God will draw a clear and distinctive line between righteous and unrighteous people. Those who worship God in truth and spirit will be known as sons of the living God and ordinary people will recognize them as God’s people. They will distinctly know that there are people who worship the true and living God.6. Peace in the midst of violence and terror:Though violence has increased in a greater way, still God’s people will live in peace. They will live in perfect peace according to the verse Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” They will see terror and horror, but the peace of God that passes all understanding will surround them and their homes. 7. Prosperity:Prosperity and blessings will come in every area of your life in this year according to this verse, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”(3 John 1:2)

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
