Somebody said, "Learn from those who have gone through much suffering and pain but still stand like the cedar tree." Yes, Bro. Dhinakaran and family went through much pain and distress, and still they are firmly serving the Lord. In this issue you will read the continuation of Dr. Paul Dhinakaran's life story after accepting Christ - how he got the blessings of Almighty God and how wonderfully God is using him. As the Bible says in Ps 92 :12, "The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon." You can visit Bro. Let me share with you of my personal life. When I was far away from the Lord, I never used to go to school regularly. When exams drew near, my mother used to question me, "Paul, did you take notes of the main points in order to review your lessons thoroughly?" I used to tell her, "Yes! yes!" readily, because all the main points would have been written in bits of paper, hidden all over my body. A guideline on another bit of paper would be in my pocket to help me find the exact part of my body where the other required bits of paper were located. My mother would earnestly advise me, "Paul before you write your exams do pray and only then start writing." Accordingly I used to pray sincerely thus, "Oh Lord! I am the son of Brother Dhinakaran. If at all I am caught while copying, it will be a disgrace not only to him but to You also! So please blind the eyes of the supervisors so that they may not catch me copying. If you save me like this, I will give all glory, honor and praises to You alone, tonight!". In the exam hall, some supervisors used to ask me if I was in need of any help, just because they knew that my father was Brother Dhinakaran. I would tell them jokingly, "Just leave me alone, Sir; that is the greatest help I need!" They would oblige, thinking that I was thorough with my answers. Thus their eyes were blinded and nobody found me out. But heaven was not blind to my bad intentions. At last, my mind completely lost its understanding and retaining capacity. I lost my self-confidence, and terror and fear engulfed me. After I allowed the Lord to step into my life, he drew me closer to Him and anointed me abundantly with His Holy Spirit. He strengthened my weak spirit enslaving me with His Spirit. He graciously filled me with self-confidence and a sense of victory over all my previous failure. Very soon, He became my closest friend and I too began to share everything with Him as if I were talking to my dearest friend. Then came the crucial moment when I had to write nearly 12 papers for my semester exam including all my previous arrears. Let me share with you what I used to do to face this problem. Whenever I sat down to study my lessons, I used to place a vacant chair near me, for our Lord saying, "Lord, be seated in this chair, kindly teach me everything!" Then whenever I turned a new page in my text book, I would place my hand on it praying "Lord, please give me an understanding heart and imprint this on my mind". As soon as I finished studying that page, I would be delighted to see that everything was clearly written in my mind. I used to praise God, giving Him all glory. Then I would pass on to the next page. Thus, the Lord enabled me to study all my lessons. I felt my retaining power coming back to me. I was filled with a confidence that I could cover the entire portion easily. "For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall." (Ps 18:29) "Some trust in chariots and some in horses: But We will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. (Ps 20:7) Like the Psalmist who said these verses, I was filled with courage and confidence. Not only that, but the Lord spoke in the minds of certain dear people to teach me everything, and they came forward to help me with great sacrifice. Then I wrote all the examinations. The Lord gave me His grace to pass all the papers at one attempt and honored me in the same college where I had been facing failures in everything, also enabling me to win a gold medal in one of the subjects. Thus He blessed me double-fold. When I had accepted Jesus as my savior I was doing 2nd year B.Sc.. I had to attend the same college once again. Only then my eyes were opened. All my former classmates were doing either their B.E or MBBS courses. They had very good chances for their future since they had regularly studied their lessons. But I had lost all my chances of improving my future. I was pained. But even at that time, a great faith and a wonderful peace flooded into my heart giving me a confidence that I too can come up in life, blessed in a double-fold manner by my Lord, like Job. During lunch intervals in College, my former friends used to while away their time, smoking or enjoying themselves in some way or other. But I used to go straight to the College chapel. Sometimes the door would remain closed. Even then I would kneel down near the closed door, unmindful of anybody looking on, and pour out my heart at His feet. "Lord even at this stage, You can life me up; Please give me back all that I have lost in double measure." Thus I used to cry out to the Lord. The Lord did look at my tears and just as Jesus Christ increased in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and men according to Luke 2:52, the Lord blessed me with all these four kinds of blessings. I, who had been very short until then, increased in stature and became a six-footer!. The Lord also gave me grace to excel in wisdom, and to enjoy favor with men and God, and started using me in His ministry too! I was confused about which course to select after doing my BSc. In those days, only a few universities had MBA Degree courses. Since it was considered to be a promising field, admission to this course was greatly in demand. My father prayed to the Lord to find out His will regarding my future course. "Lord show us whether to make our son undergo M.Sc., degree course, C.A, or M.B.A course." The Lord clearly showed him, "I will grant him MBA degree and also administrative capacity. In the near future, his ministry will expand and spread all over the world. I shall grant him wisdom and intelligence to administer everything then. So, let him apply for the MBA degree course." I did so. Of the thousands of applicants, only 40 were selected and it was a miracle that I was one of them. The Lord gave me grace to complete the course with distinction. Then according to the Lord's guidance I went for my P.H.D. At the university, the head of the MBA department was the only professor eligible for training students for a P.H.D in that field. I approached him expressing my desire to do my doctorate degree under his guidance. He laughed aloud saying, "Already 12 students are doing P.H.D under my guidance for the past seven or eight years and not even one of them has got their doctorate so far. There is none except me to guide the students in this field because I am the only eligible person in this entire university. So far, only a few Indians have gotten their doctorate. You can never do this in India. It would be better if you could go abroad and try for some higher studies there". He sent me off with this advice and I was wondering, "What is this? The Lord has asked me to try this course and this professor firmly says that there is no hope for that!" Just at that time, the university enforced a new rule which none of us had ever expected. It said: Students who have no chance of doing P.H.D in their own department, can do so by registering themselves in another department related to their department. It seemed as if this rule was framed just for me! I went to the concerned department and to my great relief, one of the professors there accepted me as his first P.H.D student, with great love. The wonder of it was that he had just then gotten his eligibility to guide students for a P.H.D. So the Lord miraculously guided me to complete that degree within 3 1/2 years from the Madras University itself, while involving me in the ministry also along with my studies. Today, I am elated to think of the wonderful guidance of the Lord that enabled me to get back every thing that I had lost, even at the early age of 26. Just because I sought the Lord with my whole-heart in all sincerity, the Lord has greatly honored me with higher degrees than all my school and college friends. The Lord arranged my marriage, soon after I completed my P.H.D. I had already told my parents that my bride should be 5.6" tall. Accordingly my parents tried in various places but nothing could be settled because of my demand about the height of the girl. My father said, "Let us not be very particular about the height." But one day, to our great surprise, a pastor very dear to us contacted us over the phone, saying, "There is a girl named Evangeline. She is 5.7" tall! She will be suitable in every way for Paul!" Then we learned that in the year 1986, when I had lost my beloved sister Angel, this family had accepted Jesus, and took baptism, and they had selected the name 'Evangeline' for this girl! Both she and my sister had selected the same group for their higher studies! The Lord also said, "This is the girl I have chosen for you!" When we met her family we were very pleased that everything was well-disciplined! At once the marriage was fixed and I was pleasantly surprised that my Lord had given me a wife 1" taller than what I had anticipated. On June 2, 1989 my marriage was conducted, led by nine Bishops and many servants of God, in the presence of thousand s of God's children and with the abundant blessings of the Lord, in a grand manner. Not only that, at the proper time, God gave us two healthy and normal children and built up my family life. I accepted the Lord Jesus in the year 1980 when I was eighteen years old. Before that, I was not at all bothered about Jesus. My parents were shedding tears and there was no peace in our family. A darkness had surrounded even the ministry, and people were thinking ill of me. But my mother wept for me day and night and started fasting for me. Very soon, the Lord touched me and filled me with His spirit. Our house was filled with joy and peace; and since then, the ministry also started to grow. More miracles started to happen in the meetings and many people gathered to attend the meetings. My father was promoted in his work-place and his fame started to spread around the world. In the ministry too, more buildings were built up. Different kinds of equipment were bought. Thus our family and ministry prospered. Just because I gave place to the Lord in my life and submitted myself entirely to Him, our family was blessed in an abundant measure. My dear brother and sister! when the hand of the Lord comes on you, you are blessed individually, as a family, at your work place; your curses turn into blessings. Not only that, you will be filled with spiritual blessings, and will become a source of blessing to many. May God bless you abundantly!!
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
