This month we are going to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. When we think about this time of the year, our hearts are filled with gladness. But there were times in the life of Mary and Joseph when they were anxious. Mary asked the angel who brought the news of the birth of her son, she asked, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" Joseph also thought of putting Mary away. But when the angel told them about the plan of God to redeem the fallen human beings from their sin, they were filled with joy and they rejoiced and thanked God. Then it happened that "a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered" (Luke 2:1). Joseph and Mary also went to Bethlehem to register their names. In Bethlehem Jesus was born. Many things happened like angels and heavenly hosts singing beautifully, shepherds and wise men coming to worship Jesus. It was the time when Glory filled that little manger and the time of great rejoicing for Mary and for Joseph. The newborn king brought great joy in their lives. This is what happens when we invite Jesus in our hearts and allow Him to be born in our hearts. Great joy and peace fills our heart.But some people think that once they are saved everything would be all right and their life will become smooth. Not so, my friend. The day you will decide to walk with Jesus, all hell will break loose. But I want to tell you that Emmanuel, the almighty God will be with you. No matter what you go through He will walk with you and He will come with you.So Joseph and Mary were happy and were rejoicing. But they were unaware of the danger looming on their heads. The wise men came from the east inquiring about the newborn king and it troubled king Herod and all his ministers. Because the king could not locate the newborn king he ordered to kill all the newborn children under two years of age. Before that happened, an angel of God came to Joseph in a dream and told him to flee to Egypt. So Joseph woke up that night itself and left with Mary and the baby Jesus. They might have been frightened but God was with them who led them in everyway. He protected them from all evil. He did not allow them to be trapped in the evil schemes of Herod or the devil. Then came another moment when the heart of Mary was crushed when she saw her firstborn son hanging on the cross, marred and bruised, bleeding all over from head to toe. How her heart would have cried out in agony!! But there emerged hope not only for her but also for the whole humanity. Jesus rose on the third day and wiped away the tears of Mary and other heartbroken people around Him. And today because He lives we can live also. He conquered death and gave us hope. He is ready to wipe away our tears today.Yes, in Jesus Christ there is hope for the dying humanity because of His great sacrifice. My dear friend, are you going through troubles today? Are you entangled in sin and addictions? Have you lost your hope? Come to Jesus, He can turn around your situation. He can wipe away all your tears. In the midst of chaos and troubles He can bring hope for you. In this Christmas season it is my prayer that you may find true peace in your lives which comes from Jesus alone.
I am going to concentrate on John chapter 1 and a few verses from it. John chapter 1 verse 1 starts with "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." And it goes on saying that the Word, created everything and without Him nothing was made. So here we find that the Word of God is Lord Jesus Christ Himself, because if we go down in the same chapter we see that the Word became flesh (John 1:14). So here we find that this Word who was in the beginning was doing everything when creation was happening. That means that Jesus was in existence even before the creation of the world even before the earth was created. And the Bible says that Jesus existed forever. Even there was no time in the past that He did not exist. Now I am going to take some time to talk about creation. In the beginning when God created the earth, the planet and the universe that we see today, He created them all through Jesus Christ. And how did He do it? He just spoke and it happened. He commanded "Let there be Light" and it happened. Before that probably there was nothing called light because scientific terminology for light is stated as photon a bundle of physical elements. So we find that God created light first. Many people have problem that there was no sun, there was no moon, then how light came into existence because God did not create sun and moon till that time? The answer is very simple that light does not depend on sun and moon. We see that when there is no sun light or moon light inside the room but still we can have light in our rooms using bulbs or tubelights. So there are other things which produce light and give light. It was the fourth day when God said, "let there be big and small light which could give light on the earth". It was the fourth day when God created the sun and the moon. How did He create them? He simply said, "let there be" and it came into existence. So before the sun and the moon came into existence Lord Jesus Christ was there. And sun and moon are just the handiwork of God. So we find that God created everything by saying, "let it be" and it happened. Whatever God made, He spoke and it came into existence. But there came a time to make man but God did not say "let it be" but probably He came down from heaven and probably He did everything by Himself. Because He took the dust and He created human being out of dust. He took the dust and He formed an image out of dust. When a sculptor tries to create a sculpture he puts lot of thoughts in it. He puts his imagination into it. And most of the time he creates something that he has already seen. And his imagination runs to an extent. Probably God might have thought in his mind, how do I create human being? How should he look like? How would he look like? How would his shape be? Probably He might have put lot of thought into it. When a sculptor builds his sculpture, he tries to put some mud on a pole or something. And he tries to begin to shape it. Probably God might have done the same thing. He might have given a shape so that eyes might have come into shape, probably the nose would have come into shape, probably the ears would have come into shape, and probably the lips would have come into shape. Probably God might have put a lot of effort into it. So God took lot of time, effort and thinking when he created the human being. So human being is not an ordinary thing. Today probably many people may not have value for human being but for God a man, a woman is a very valuable thing. If you look into the world's famous sculptures that were created and probably they will sell for millions of dollars and they make it to sell. Probably they create it to sell. But God did not create human being to sell. Instead he came in this world to save human beings when he fell in sin. He sent His only begotten son to redeem him from the sin and to bring him out of that sin. Think about it, a sculptor creates a sculpture to sell it but God did not do it. Instead he gave his most precious thing to save human being. Who was Lord Jesus Christ? His one word can create planets. His one word can create mountains. His one word can do anything. He lived in luxury. He had everything; He had angels to serve Him. He had all the gold of the world all the diamonds were His but he left everything and came in this world in a manger. And He came in this world so that we can be saved and we can be put back together again. When we sin we mess up that beautiful creation of God and we make it look ugly. So God decided to send His only son so that we could be redeemed and he could take us out of the ugliness of sin. That's why the Bible says that "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).Yes Jesus Christ came into this world and He took birth in a manger. He did everything to redeem us from the situation we are in. When somebody tells you that you have no value, let me tell you that it is the biggest lie they tell you. In God's sight you are still precious. Whatever you may be in. No matter what you are going through, no matter in what situation you are in, you are still precious in His sight. He said in Isa 49:15-16, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me."Jesus also said, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Mat 28:20).So we find that His love overpowers everything. He can do everything for you because He loves you. He can redeem you out of sin, He can take you out of your situation you are in, He can turn around your situation, He can do anything. The only thing is that you have to come to Him and ask Him. And He is willing to do it because He loves you so much. He says, "I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me." You are precious in His sight. You are more precious than the sculptures that are sold in millions of dollars. So take it into your mind that you are more precious than those sculptures and God has created you with a purpose. If you read Eph. 2:10 it says that you are the workmanship of his hand and created in Christ Jesus for good works."God has created us so that we produce good works and that we may do good works which makes God happy. Let us not devalue ourselves. So let us do good works matching the value we have. We are not something downtrodden or useless thing, that we have to spend our lives doing sin or wrong things. So let us get rid of our sins, let us turn to Him and let us tell Him that, 'from today we will live up to our value'. Let us surrender our lives so that we may do good works and ask Him that He may give holiness in our lives.
